Ashley Pettifer
Ashley studied 3 years Fine Art in London before going on to study Architecture for 6 years at Manchester School of Architecture. This has allowed Ashley to gain a greater appreciation of the relationships between structure and aesthetics.
Ashley has 5 years experience working on a wide range of public sector projects. He also has a lifelong passion for house design and this was one of the drivers behind him joining Raynes Architecture earlier this year.
Alongside this he has also worked as a volunteer at the Cube Gallery for the Built Environment helping out with various events and projects.
Ashley is most inspired when on his travels, and has a keen interest in documenting objects and places through photographs and sketches. These consist of architectural landscapes down to the design of door handles. Here he is intrigued with the conflict between the mundane and unusual.
He loves craft ales and believes drinking should be taste experience. He’s taken this to the next level having been brewing his own ale in his basement. He’s now working on some possible pump clip designs.
One piece of inspiration he took from Architect Peter Wilson recently, is the power of hand drawing. In essence don’t rely on computers to document all your ideas. Sometimes it can be quicker and more inspiring to convey your ideas through a few quick sketches.
