The town of Poynton, sits on the edge of the Peak District and the Cheshire Plain. It has good links by rail, road & Manchester Airport is only 12 miles away. It is fairly central to shops, schools etc, hence it is a very popular area to live.
Its an old mining village, but you would never know it without looking carefully.
There is plenty of open countryside for walking, cycling within easy reach of the centre of Poynton.

The schools are superb and my own sons did amazingly well at a local primary and the local high school. There are excellent shops nearby particularly the Handforth Dean area for John Lewis, M and S, And the supermarkets. But one of the greatest improvements to rejuvenate our area is happening at the moment. A new Waitrose in the village centre (Poynton) just being built along with massive road improvements. The new Morrisons is also a great local shop.
There are lovely places in Stockport such as the four Heatons, if this is where you are plannig to move to I reccoment Heaton Moor as it has a small village type shopping strip... this includes Womens boutiques, Mens shops, Indian, Chinese and cafe bars. The house prices are slightly dearer here. But there is a lovely community spirit especially between Heaton Norris and Heaton Moor as alot of Children from these two Heatons go to Norris Bank situated between both these Heatons, It has recently been rated OFSED excellent.
There are also 3 more primary schools nearby too and a OFSED excellent high school Priestnall. As well as a catholic primary and secondary. Cheadle Hulme and Bramhall also are nice areas and the house prices are slightly higher. Stockport town centre is 10mins on the train to Manchester. And Stockport has a nice range of shops in the town centre including the new Primark. and the 2 cinema complexs near by with bowling and lazer quest!
